        • SYNOPSIS

The only residents of young Nicholas's seaside town are women and boys. When he sees a dead body in the ocean one day, he begins to question his existence and surroundings. Why must he, and all the other boys, be hospitalised?

Lucile Hadzihalilovic was born on May 7, 1961 in Lyon, Rhône, France, to Bosnian parents, and grew up in Morocco until she was 17. She studied art history and graduated from the prestigious French film school La Femis in 1987 with the short film La Premiere Mort de Nono.

In the early 1990s, she began to collaborate with the notable French filmmaker Gaspar Noé. She edited his short film Carne (1991) and its sequel, the feature length I Stand Alone (1998), and together they formed the production company Les Cinémas de la Zone in 1991.

She is a writer and director, known for Enter the Void (2009), Innocence (2004) and La Bouche de Jean-Pierre (1996).
